Chicago consists of 77 community areas as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. Those 77 areas are further divided into 202 neighborhoods.
On the left is a list of each of the areas and of the neighborhoods within that area. The numbers (8008, or 8, e.g.) are commonly used by agents to search the Multiple Listing Service.
On the right are three maps you can use to find out more about each area. All statistics for the maps refer to 2012 sales of condos.
At the bottom is a list of commonly used, but unofficial, names for neighborhoods and the corresponding name of the community area to which each belongs.
